Feature: Football/Soccer

Within this issue, of which the feature is on Football/Soccer that hopefully prepares us well for the FIFA World Championship 2006 in Germany, we provide you with an interesting range of information about the game. Thomas Reilly and Inigo Mujika give us an overview on Science and Football in an applied context and Christopher Carling and Mark Williams highlight how technological enhancements have greatly improved the efficiency and value of the match analysis process. In addition, there are articles on the Environmental Influence on the Development of Expertise in Football (A.M. Williams and D. Richardson) and the Physiological Aspects of Refereeing Performance and Training (W. Gregson and M. Weston). Vladimir Borkovic of Streetfootballworld introduces to us their Festival 06 – Development through Football event that will start in early July and is driven by the FIFA World Cup.
