The considerable diversity of the forms and contexts that physical education, physical activity and sport can take suggests that a great deal of their relevance for civil society lies in their variety and adaptability. To realise fully their potential, cooperation is needed across public policy sectors, such as health, education, city development, infrastructure, and transport, as well as private stakeholders, to develop and implement legislations, regulations and national plans of action. Toolkits and other support mechanisms to support such cross-sector collaboration do not currently exist and would need to be developed.
