Webinar - Reimagining Gender Equality Through Sport

When: 01 April, 10am PST (Pacific Time USA / Canada) = 7pm CET / 5 pm UTC

Around the world, sport has been used to improve physical and mental health and well-being; promote economic development and social mobilisation; support communities affected by disaster response; and enhance peace building. More recently, there has been recognition of the power of sport to address gender inequality. Sport for Development (S4D) is the use of sport as a tool to achieve these objectives on an individual, community, national, and international level.

This session will feature two conversations - one focused on the global landscape of S4D and the other focused on the United States - and will conclude with a brief panel discussion and Q&A. Each conversation between researcher and practitioner will highlight emerging research that demonstrates how sport can be used to advance gender justice around the world. Panelists will share lessons that are relevant not only to practitioners and policymakers, but the wider public, including parents, teachers, and even adolescents themselves.
