Seminar on Development through Sport

 

An interdisciplinary training package will be offered over the course of the seminar, including theoretical learning sessions and hands on experiential workshops. The seminar will be presented in English and targets service providers and students. The aim is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to deliver such psycho-social sport programmes in crisis areas. International experts and practitioners in various fields such as sociology, psychology, social work, sport and physical education, will cover the following areas:

 

·         Psychological dynamics of trauma

·         Role of sport, physical activity and play in community

·         Building and disaster recovery

·         Gender issues – protection, participation and empowerment

·         Children and youth issues – trauma and victimisation, protection, participation

          and inclusion

·         Development and maintenance of sport and movement programmes for inclusion

·         Team building, self care and issues related to working in social problem areas

·         Implementation of psycho-social sport programmes   

·         Funding, monitoring and evaluation
