Quality Physical Education Policy Package

New Advocacy Tool for Policy Makers

On January 29, 2015, UNESCO published their Quality Physical Education Policy Package.

UNESCO has led the development of this Package as a means to respond to the global decline in provision of physical education, coupled with an increase in sedentary lifestyles which is leading to socio-economic problems related to physical literacy, health, civic participation and global citizenship.

The package is designed to advocate for more investment in physical education programmes and to assist governments to revise policy measures as well as the implementation of physical education.

The package includes an infographic advocacy document, Quality Physical Education Guidelines for Policy-makers, and a website featuring statistics as well as project information and tools.

The next step of the project will be to accompany a selected number of governments to revise their policies in line with the guidelines.

The project is being developed and implemented in close cooperation with ICSSPE, the IOC, UNDP, UNICEF, WHO and the European Commission.

The package is available on the UNESCO website
