The Steering Committee of the ERASMUS Plus project CHAMP – Clubs for Health-enhancement, Activation, Modernisation and Participation – met in the ICSSPE headquarters on 11th June, 2019.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the next steps of the research phase. The research shall assist the sport movement with the provision of innovative tools and training which will encourage modernisation, offering them insights into current trends and ideas for physical activity promotion.

During the meeting the partners agreed on research criteria; these include, among others, a focus on participation opportunities for specific groups beginning with children who are at least 6 years old. Other criteria are inclusion of persons with disabilities, obese individuals, as well as factors such as psychological health, gender, ethnicities and other social factors. “Grey” literature will be included as well as peer reviewed scientific articles.

Following this, ICSSPE will collect and analyse innovations outside the non-for profit sport sector, while the Swedish Sports Confederation will search for innovations within the organised sport movement. All relevant findings will result in practical recommendations for sport clubs.

The outcomes of all tasks, which shall be available by the end of the year, will be used to develop educational material and a MOOC.  This shall help non-for profit sport clubs to better understand the need for modern sport participation opportunities; to understand their innovation potential; and to understand the added value of higher participation numbers.
