GIZ S4D Workshop: Sport and Education

Start Time:
Monday, 18 July, 2022 (All day) to Wednesday, 20 July, 2022 (All day)

Join the GIZ S4D Learning Lab for a three-day workshop on how sport can contribute to education-related development goals (SDG4): 18 - 20 July 2022.

Sport and physical education (PE) can motivate children and youth to attend and engage in formal and informal education. Sport, as part of holistic education, creates quality learning environments, engages disenfranchised learners and can contribute to improved education outcomes.

In particular, this workshop will discuss policy-related frameworks for Quality PE (QPE, UNESCO) and important mechanisms behind interventions providing S4D in educational contexts, e.g. how sport sessions and activities can be used to convey education-focused competences/skills and the importance of qualified PE teachers. In group, we will discuss education-related challenges in your countries and try to find possible solutions. Topic-related country examples of the GIZ and research will be presented as well. At the end, participants will be able to use already existing resources and know how to implement S4D contents in their own educational working context.

Participation in the webseminar “Introduction to S4D” or prior knowledge of S4D are required for this course.
