ICSSPE successfully held the first expert session for the “Stronger Together: Creating youth champions to transform communities through grassroots sport” project, co-funded by the UNESCO Participation Programme, on 13 May 2025. The virtual gathering brought together 12 young leaders from Namibia, Zambia, and South Africa, united by their passion for using sport as a tool for inclusion, empowerment, and social transformation.

The Stronger Together project aims to equip youth with the knowledge, skills, and networks to become effective changemakers in their communities through sport-based interventions. Over the course of the next months, participants will engage in capacity-building workshops, knowledge exchanges, and local community initiatives.

During this session, participants were welcomed by representatives from ICSSPE, partners, and participants from the previous project where the original "Let's Get Moving Together!" toolkit was developed and implemented, who underscored the importance of youth leadership in achieving sustainable development goals through sport. The session featured:
  • Powerful testimonials from youth leaders and project alumni.
  • Reflections on the development and implementation of the "Let's Get Moving Together!" toolkit.
  • Interactive discussions that allowed participants to share their motivations, challenges, and hopes for the journey ahead.
This project continues ICSSPE’s commitment to fostering inclusive, youth-driven solutions through sport and physical activity. It also contributes to UNESCO’s global efforts to support youth participation and leadership in decision-making processes that affect their lives and communities.

As the project moves forward, participants will take part in thematic training sessions online and the outcomes will be shared during a final event later this year, celebrating youth-led impact and cross-border collaboration.
