The International Platform on Sport and Development (sportanddev) has announced the release of its new user guide, now available in four languages: English, Arabic, French, and Spanish. This initiative marks an important step towards improving accessibility and inclusiveness for the global Sport for Development (S4D) community.

Founded in 2003, sportanddev is a leading global hub for individuals and organisations using sport to advance social, economic, and environmental objectives, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The platform enables users to share knowledge, publish articles and events, highlight good practices, and connect with partners across sectors and regions.

The new user guide provides clear, practical instructions on how to use the platform effectively — from publishing content and joining discussions to finding resources and building connections. By offering the guide in multiple languages, sportanddev aims to support broader participation, amplify diverse voices, and foster stronger global collaboration within the S4D field.

In addition to the user guide, sportanddev is promoting its Massive Open Online Course (MOOC): Sport for Sustainable Development: Designing Effective Policies and Programmes. Launched in 2020, the course has engaged over 10,000 participants from 200 countries and is freely available in English, Spanish, French, and Arabic. It targets government officials, sports leaders, coaches, athletes, community leaders, and other professionals in sport and development sectors.

The course is also offered in a hybrid format, with successful implementation in partnership with the African Union, where senior government officials from 17 countries participated in online sessions and an in-person workshop. Feedback from participants highlighted the course’s impact on learning, networking, and policy application.

ICSSPE encourages its members and partners to explore both the new user guide and the MOOC, and to share insights, research, and practice from across sport, education, and development sectors to strengthen global collaboration and inclusion.
