Online Gambling and Match Fixing

Two new documents including online gambling and match fixing in sport have been released by the Council of Europe and the European Parliament.

The Report on online gambling in the Internal Market, by the European Parliament, includes the topic Gambling and sport: the need to ensure integrity and addresses among others the establishment of common law regarding this issue for all Member States of the European Union.

Besides that, in the Recommendation of the Committee of Ministers to Member States on promotion of the integrity of sport against manipulation of results, notably match-fixing, the Council of Europe gives suggestions on preventive activities in this field to Member States, sports organisations, betting operators and other relevant stakeholders.
