The World Day for Physical Activity 2013 on 6 April saw over eight thousand people celebrating during the Agita Mundo Walking Parade in the streets of Sao Paolo. It included the Governor of Sao Paulo, the Brazilian Minister of Health and two State Secretaries responsible for sport and health. Organised by the Agita Mundo Network, this year's World Day for Physical Activity was devoted to the theme "No Barrier to Physical Activity". The network counted more than 900 events in 35 countries celebrating the occasion. People were encouraged to organise a walking parade or send a "virtual walking" message via e-mail, Facebook, Twitter, etc. in order to encourage physical activity.

The main purpose of the Agita Mundo Network is to promote physical activity as a healthy behaviour for all people around the world, with a central focus on translating theory into practice.
