By the end of the submission deadline nearly 1,500 abstracts, including 300 young investigators, have reached the Scientific Committee of the 2012 International Convention on Science, Education and Medicine in Sport (ICSEMIS).

Papers were received from over 50 countries, from every continent, with the largest number of submissions coming from China.

“The high number of abstracts is due [...] to the high profile of this most prestigious conference and also the desire of delegates to be part of a truly world leading line-up of speakers from across the globe”, explains Greg Whyte, Chair of the ICSEMIS 2012 Scientific Committee. “I am very excited about the conference”, Whyte continues, “the world leading key note and symposia presenters combined with the impressive free communications line-up will provide a wonderful scientific programme. Together with the large number of delegates from all over the world and the programme of cultural events; ICSEMIS 2012 should be a truly enriching experience.”

A release of the full convention programme is planned for the end of February, coinciding with the early-bird registration for the event that will be available until 23 March, 2012.
