Message from UN Agencies and Education International
World Teachers’ Day

The heads of UNESCO, ILO, UNICEF, UNDP and Education International published a joint message on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day on 5 October 2014.
In their message, the contributing parties called for innovative, inclusive and results-focused
teaching with the aim of providing the best possible education to children and youths worldwide. The signatories urge governments and the international community to “stand united to support teachers and quality education worldwide, and especially in those countries where the highest number of out-of-school children exists.”
This year marked the 20th anniversary of World Teachers’ Day.
