Master`s Degree for Olympic Studies

The third edition of the Master´s Degree Programme on Olympic Studies of the International Olympic Academy will be implemented in the academic year 2011-2012.

The programme is offered in collaboration with the Department of Sports Organisation and Management of the University of Peloponnese, Greece.

Titled Olympic Studies, Olympic Education, Organisation and Management of Olympic Events, the master is based on the three pillars education, sports and culture, which constitute the foundation for Olympism and Olympic Pedagogy.

The programme aims to:

• promote knowledge and research on issues of Olympic philosophy and education, organisation and management of Olympic Games, large scale athletic events and in general Olympic and athletic studies;
• provide students with specialised knowledge at a postgraduate level on issues related to Olympic Studies as well as the necessary means for their academic, professional or research career;
• provide a specialised workforce that will organise and direct Olympic and athletic institutions, promote the growth of programmes of Olympic education at the international level and contribute in the creation of a scientific background for the growth and organisation of sports.
