ICSSPE is pleased to announce that our Executive Director, Patrick Stolpmann, has been appointed to a voluntary leadership role with the International Federation of Adapted Physical Activity (IFAPA), one of ICSSPE’s active member organisations. Patrick will serve as IFAPA’s new Disability Community Liaison, supporting global engagement with disability communities and strengthening cooperation across international sport and physical activity networks.
The announcement comes on International Volunteer Day, an occasion that recognizes the impact of volunteer service in creating more inclusive and equitable societies. Patrick’s appointment reflects this spirit of collaboration and underscores ICSSPE’s longstanding commitment to advancing disability inclusion through research, education, and international partnership.
In this voluntary position, Patrick will support IFAPA in amplifying the voices, priorities, and expertise of disability communities across research dissemination, professional development, and policy advocacy. He will contribute to the coordination of initiatives that ensure disability perspectives are meaningfully incorporated within IFAPA’s global activities.
Patrick has been Executive Director of ICSSPE since 2023 and brings more than a decade of international experience in disability sport, policy development, and inclusive programming. His background includes leadership roles at the International Paralympic Committee, where he supported strategic development and cross-sector engagement.
ICSSPE congratulates Patrick on this appointment and celebrates the essential role that voluntary work plays in advancing inclusive sport worldwide. We look forward to the positive impact this continued collaboration with IFAPA will bring to research communities, practitioners, and partners working to expand equitable opportunities in sport and physical education.
