The first edition of the World Teacher Games 2025 took place in France, from May 5 to 10, bringing together hundreds of teachers and education professionals from over 30 countries. Designed as a celebration of teachers through sport, this groundbreaking international event combined sporting competitions, cultural exchange, and professional development workshops, spotlighting the essential role of educators in building inclusive, active, and healthy societies.
As a partner of the event, ICSSPE was actively involved in the World Teacher Games Conference, held on May 10, under the theme: “The Training of Physical Education Teachers, at the Centre of Public Health Priorities for School Students.” The conference aimed to advance dialogue around the importance of well-trained physical education teachers in addressing growing public health concerns such as sedentary lifestyles, childhood obesity, and mental well-being.
ICSSPE was represented by Claire Boursier, a member of the ICSSPE Development Committee, who participated in the expert panel discussion titled “Physical Activity and Sport at School.” Drawing on ICSSPE’s extensive body of research and advocacy work, Claire shared tools, programmes, and best practices developed in collaboration with global partners that empower physical education teachers to take a central role in promoting physical activity among children and youth.
ICSSPE extends its sincere appreciation to the World Teacher Games organisers for their dedication and hospitality, and for offering a vibrant platform that bridges the worlds of sport and education.
