ICSSPE was selected by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) as a consortium member to deliver the OLYMPISM365 Sport and Health Capacity Development Initiative. This project, which also includes the University of the West Indies (UWI), seeks to empower health and sport professionals to advocate for healthier lifestyles and improve health outcomes through community sport. The initiative will create and provide customized training to enhance professionals' understanding of health-promoting sport and physical activity, as well as to improve the design and implementation of policies and programs that increase access to the benefits of regular physical activity.

The aim of the training programme is to focus on several key learning objectives for the participants. It’s expected that professionals will be able to learn how to cite priority policy contexts for health, physical activity, and sport globally and locally, and articulate physical activity prevalence and guidelines as building blocks for strategy selection. Other objectives include that the participants will gain the ability to articulate evidence regarding the benefits of physical activity, demonstrate familiarity with public health principles, and cite evidence of effectiveness when selecting strategies in their roles. Furthermore, the programme covers the global action plan on physical activity and health, the importance of systems in influencing physical activity, and how to forge effective cross-sector partnerships. Case studies and international examples shall be used to illustrate successful interventions, and participants should be capable of developing competence in framing advocacy arguments supporting physical activity and sport.
