ICSSPE President, Dr. Uri Schaefer, delivered a keynote address at the 6th European Olympic Academies (EOA) Congress, held in Olympia from September 24 to 28, 2024. Themed “Perspectives of the Olympic Movement after the Paris Games,” the event brought together leaders from academia and sport organizations to explore the future of the Olympic Movement. Dr. Schaefer highlighted ICSSPE’s key projects, such as the PACTE+ initiative, which promotes physical activity in European cities, and the GAP Women project, focusing on gender equality in sports participation and leadership.
During his speech, Dr. Schaefer underscored ICSSPE’s commitment to promoting health, education, and inclusion through sport. He discussed ICSSPE’s Global Teaching Excellence initiative, which strives for excellence in coaching and teaching, and the Sport and Health Capacity Development Initiative (SHCDI), which aims to improve public health through sport. Both initiatives align with the Olympic values of excellence and inclusion.
Dr. Schaefer concluded by emphasizing the shared mission of ICSSPE and the Olympic Movement to advance well-being and education through sport. He praised the Paris 2024 Games for their inclusive achievements and called for continued collaboration to uphold Olympic values and inspire future generations to live healthier, more active lives.
