On December 4-5, ICSSPE participated in the Erasmus+ GREEN TEAM project meeting held in Gondomar, Portugal.
The first day of the gathering featured a sustainable and inclusive sports event in Gondomar. Organized as part of the GREEN TEAM project, the event included activities such as volleyball, table tennis, boccia, and walking football, designed to bring communities together while emphasizing environmental responsibility.
Several eco-conscious practices were implemented during the event:
- Eco-friendly transport options to reduce carbon footprints
- Reusable water bottles with accessible refill stations
- Waste separation systems to promote effective recycling
- Healthy, sustainable snacks provided to participants
- An energy-efficient venue powered by solar panels
The second day was dedicated to strategic discussions among GREEN TEAM partners. The agenda focused on key milestones, including the launch of online courses designed to help sports federations and organizers adopt sustainable practices in their events.
As a Steering Committee member and leader of Work Package 2, ICSSPE played an active role in the mid-term review. Partners reflected on progress to date, including deliverables achieved, and mapped out the next steps for initiatives such as the development of an e-learning platform and a manual on sustainable and inclusive sports events.
