ICSSPE Attends 30th EFPM Congress and World Fair Play Day Celebrations

ICSSPE was honored to participate in the 30th European Fair Play Movement (EFPM) Congress held on May 18–19, 2025, at the International Olympic Academy in Ancient Olympia, Greece. Representing ICSSPE was Executive Board Member Gerald Fritz, who contributed to discussions on promoting fair play and ethical values in sport.

 

The two-day event, themed “Fair Play Education for the Promotion of Fair Play,” featured keynote addresses by Anne Marcellini (University of Montpellier) and Mike McNamee (KU Leuven), focusing on inclusion and ethical challenges in sport. The congress also included a roundtable discussion with contributions from Manfred Laemmer, President of the European Olympic Academies, and Dimosthenis Tampakos, President of the Hellenic Olympic Academy.

 

A highlight of the celebrations was the inaugural World Fair Play Day on May 19, commemorated with a tribute to Pierre de Coubertin, founder of the modern Olympic Games. The EFPM General Assembly concluded the event, during which a new Executive Committee was elected.
