ICSSPE and the World Association for Sport Management (WASM) have joined together to launch Global Teaching Excellence, an initiative aimed at people who are passionate about learning and teaching.  Designed to enhance best practice within the sport and physical activity discipline, GTE will provide a series of open online events throughout the year to discuss, learn and understand all aspects of teaching excellence.  The extensive network of both organisations allows the unique opportunity to discuss and learn best practice initiatives from across the globe.  The online events are free to attend, and anyone interested in learning and teaching within sport and physical activity and with a passion for teaching excellence should attend.

Panel Discussion: What do we mean by Global Teaching Excellence?  What does global mean in learning & teaching?  How do we ensure we provide for internationalisation?  What factors impact teaching excellence?  How do we measure excellence?
 
Dr Ruth M Crabtree (UK) is Associate Professor at Sheffield Hallam University and has over 25 years’ experience of working within Higher Education.  An advocate for teaching excellence, Ruth research specialises in student engagement and inspiring the next generation of professionals for work in the diverse, global sport industry.  In 2019 Ruth was awarded the European Association for Sport Management Distinguished Service Award in recognition of her work within sport management.
 
Dr Uri Schaefer (Israel) has been President of ICSSPE since 2016 and has served in many prestigious sport organisations including the Israeli Ministry of Culture and Sport, Israel’s National Centre for Sporting Excellence – the Wingate Institute for Elite Sport, as well as being the founding President of the International Council for Coaching Excellence.  He is a strong promoter of equal access to physical activity for all and the recipient of the Israel Olympic Committee Award for Outstanding Leadership and Contribution to Coach Education.  In 2017, he was elected to the International Jewish Sport Hall of Fame.
 
Professor Karen Danylchuk (Canada) is Professor of Sport Management, Acting Director of the School of Kinesiology, and former Associate Dean (Academic) of the Faculty of Health Sciences at The University of Western Ontario in London, Canada.  She has been a leader in global sport management professional organisations, serving as a former President of the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) and is the current President of the World Association for Sport Management (WASM).  Throughout her 42-year career, she has published extensively and presented her research globally, and is a strong advocate of sport management teaching excellence.
 
Dr Gerco Van Dalfsen (Netherlands) is a senior lecturer at Hanze University Groningen and has over 25 years’ experience of working within Higher Education.  He has responsibility for internationalisation and inter culturalisation within his university and has developed and led many global sport seminars to 1000s of students.  His research specialises within entrepreneurship, shared leadership, engagement and employability, preparing the future leaders within sport and physical activity.
 
Professor Rosa Lopez de D'Amico (Venezuela) has a wealth of experience within sport and physical activity, having worked in many international organisations across the globe.  She is the founding President of the Latin America Sport Management Association (ALGEDE), founding Secretary of the Latin America Sociocultural Studies in Sport Association (ALESDE) and honorary life member of the International Association of Physical Education and Sport for Girls and Women (IAPESGW).  In 2006 she received the “gold medal of honour” given by the International Council of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and in 2007 she received the highest research award given by the Venezuelan Council of Universities (CDCHT).  Currently, Rosa is President of the International Society for Comparative Physical Education and Sport (ISCPES) and Treasurer of the World Association for Sport Management (WASM).
