Establishing Networks and Arbitration Authorities

The All India Council of Physical Education and the TMC ASSER Institute for International Laws, the Hague, Netherlands, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Exchange of Faculty and Students in Sports Law.

 

Aiming at strengthening the cooperation and ties of these two institutions and their countries in the area of sports law, the memorandum sets a framework to foster:

  • the exchange of information and library services;
  • the joint organisation of specialised courses;
  • the joint organisation of conferences, seminars and workshops on topical issues of international sports law;
  • the exchange of students and trainees in sports law;
  • the joint undertaking of studies; and
  • the publication of books.

 

Furthermore, the Asian Council of Arbitration for Sports (ACAS) recently was constituted and set in operation by Sports Lawyers of the Asian Continental Countries in Seoul, South Korea.

 

According to Amaresh Kumar, Secretary General of the All India Council of Physical Education and the Asian Council of Arbitration for Sports, the ACAS will work as the decentralised court of Arbitration of the International Court of Arbitration, whose headquarters are at Lausanne, Switzerland.
