The international sport science community will gather this summer for the 31st Annual Congress of the European College of Sport Science (ECSS), taking place from 7 to 10 July 2026 in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Held in the Olympic Capital, the Congress will bring together researchers, practitioners, and students from around the world for four days of scientific exchange, interdisciplinary dialogue, and networking. The event continues to serve as a key platform for advancing knowledge across sport science, exercise, and health.
A global platform for exchange and innovation
The ECSS Annual Congress offers a comprehensive programme designed to highlight the latest developments shaping sport performance, health, and human movement. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge research presentations, expert discussions, and collaborative exchanges across disciplines.
The Invited Programme will address current challenges in sport science, including performance optimisation, injury prevention, recovery, and athlete development. In addition, the Pre-Congress Programme will offer workshops and specialised sessions, providing deeper insight into emerging methods, tools, and concepts ahead of the main Congress.
Bringing together a truly international community, the event fosters connections between sport scientists, coaches, academics, and professionals, encouraging collaboration that extends beyond the Congress itself.
Networking and community experience
Alongside the scientific programme, the Congress places strong emphasis on community building and informal exchange. A range of social and networking activities will provide opportunities to connect in a relaxed environment, including the traditional Bengt Saltin 5K Run and the Friday Night Party—both well-established highlights of the ECSS Congress experience.
An opportunity to engage with the future of sport science
Whether attending as a researcher, practitioner, or student, participants will have the opportunity to stay at the forefront of developments in sport science and contribute to shaping its future.
Registration is now open, with early bird rates available until 17 April 2026. For more information and to register, please visit the official ECSS Congress website.
