Community Based Physical Education Network

A successful Global Forum for Physical Education Pedagogy 2012 was recently held in Velen, Germany. Forty delegates from North and South America, Asia, Africa, and Europe were in attendance to discuss the theme of ´Revitalizing Health & Physical Education through Community Based Networking´.

 

The growing concern of physical inactivity especially in children, was addressed with regards to creating community partnerships with sport clubs and local departments of education, health, and sport and social policies to create a networks of physical activity opportunity and encouragement. The central themes for this conference were ´Exercise as Medicine´, ´Healthy Children in Sound Communities´, ´Technology in Physical Education´, ´Teaching in Physical Education´, ´Teacher Training´ and ´World Healthy School Network´.

 
A number of keynote speakers discussed physical education and health within the community context from an Asian perspective, evidence based outcome interventions studies of US obesity, as well as a presentation of global community-based networks.
Delegates also had the opportunity to participate in small discussion groups concerning the development of a framework that will encourage future physical education networks for children.
