Application Process for Awards Open

International Peace and Sport Forum 2012

Have you or someone you know contributed to the best practice of sport and sport values to increase global peace and social security? The awards aim to recognise such initiatives in the promotion of peace though sport through social cohesion, ethical values and shared experiences. The award ceremony will be held during the International Peace and Sport Forum gala evening on November 1st, 2012, in Sochi, Russia.

There are seven project categories will be awarded for contributions to global peace through sport:
1.       International Sports Federation
2.       Sporting event
3.       Non-governmental organization
4.       Corporate social responsibility
5.       Creative initiatives
6.       Photograph
7.       International athlete

Winners from last years´ awards include ´Skateistan´ promoting community and an inclusive sport experience for boys and girls through skateboarding, in Kabul last year; the East Africa Cup, a football, volleyball, and wheelchair volleyball tournament that included sport and educational opportunities for several east African countries, and PeacePlayers international, a non-profit organisation promoting unity and education for otherwise divided communities such as South Africa, Northern Ireland, Israel and the West Bank, through the sport of basketball.
