Call for Abstracts – 31st ECSS Annual Congress

The ECSS Annual Congress is an international event in sport and exercise science, attracting nearly 3,000 experts, academics, professionals and practitioners from around the globe.
 
The 31st ECSS Annual Congress will be held in Lausanne, Switzerland, from 7 to 10 July 2026, at the SwissTech Convention Center – a modern venue at the heart of a city renowned as the Olympic Capital. Hosted by the University of Lausanne and École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, the Congress will convene in Lausanne after two decades, under the theme ‘Coming back to the Olympic City’, bringing the scientific community together to share cutting-edge research and foster interdisciplinary collaboration.
 
The Plenary Sessions and Invited Symposia are available for review on the official Congress website.
 
The abstract submission opens on 1 January 2026, with three presentation formats available: Oral Presentation, Conventional Print Poster Presentation and E-Poster. Abstracts can be submitted exclusively via an ECSS Account until 13 February 2026 (24:00 CET).
 
Early Career Researchers are also encouraged to apply for the ECSS Young Investigators Award (YIA) when submitting an abstract. The ECSS YIA competition offers a unique platform to showcase innovative research, gain international visibility and connect with leading experts in the field. Further details are available here and finalists will present their work during dedicated ECSS YIA sessions at the Congress, where outstanding contributions will be recognised with prestigious awards and prizes.
 
Authors can choose between five disciplinary fields and perspectives:
  • Applied Sports Sciences
  • Biomechanics & Motor Control
  • Physiology & Nutrition
  • Psychology, Social Sciences & Humanities
  • Sports & Exercise Medicine & Health and a respective subtopic.
