World Day for Physical Activity 2022
6 April 2022 is World Day for Physical Activity (Dia Mundial da Atividade Física or DMAF) with ICSSPE member CELAFISCS, the Physical Fitness Research Laboratory of Sao Caetano do Sul, reminding organisations to take part and get active in support for this year’s theme Move to Live.
The World Day for Physical Activity is promoted through the WHO and Agita Mundo – World Physical Activity Network, a group of international governmental and non-governmental institutions who strive to disseminate the benefits of adopting a more active and healthy lifestyle by practicing some physical activity daily.

About the World Physical Activity Day
The DMAF movement originated in 1996 in São Paulo, Brazil as Agita São Paulo (roughly, Shake or Move São Paulo), a programme led by the São Paulo State Department of Health and ICSSPE member the Center for Studies of the Physical Fitness Laboratory of São Caetano do Sul (CELAFISCS).
The programme grew on to become Agita Brasil with the support of the Physical Activity Network of the Americas (RAFA/PANA). Later the programme grew to what it is today: Agita Mundo – World Physical Activity Network, a group of international governmental and non-governmental institutions who strive to disseminate the benefits of adopting a more active and healthy lifestyle by practicing some physical activity daily.
Through the efforts of Agita Mundo, the World Health Organization (WHO) formally recognised 6 April as World Physical Activity Day in 2002, and the day has been celebrated ever since with thousands of events worldwide. It leads into the WHO World Health day on 7 April.
Join the World Health Organization (WHO), the Center for Studies of the Physical Fitness Laboratory of São Caetano do Sul (CELAFISCS) and others in April to get people moving and lead more physically active lifestyles, especially after the two years of COVID-19 pandemic.
