ICSSPE strengthens EU collaboration at the Erasmus+ Sport Info Day 2026

On 11 December 2025, ICSSPE’s Executive Director, Patrick Stolpmann, joined the Erasmus+ Sport Info Day 2026 in Brussels, Belgium, hosted by the European Commission and the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). This popular annual event brought together the European sport community, both in person and online, offering updates on Erasmus+ Sport, practical guidance, and plenty of networking opportunities.

 

The day kicked off with a round table moderated by Sophie Beernaerts, Director of EACEA, and featured European Commissioner Glenn Micallef, MEP Bogdan Andrzej Zdrojewski, and Vassos Koutsioundas from the Cyprus Sport Organisation. Commissioner Micallef highlighted the importance of increasing funding for sport in the next Erasmus+ budget to create more opportunities for grassroots organisations and promote healthier, more active communities across Europe.

 

Throughout the day, participants explored Erasmus+ Sport policy priorities, upcoming calls for proposals, funding mechanisms, and plans for the year ahead. Workshops covered everything from mobility opportunities for sport staff to tips on applying for Erasmus+ Sport projects and Capacity Building funding. The final session offered a sneak peek at the European Commission’s consultation on “A Strategic Vision for Sport in Europe: Reinforcing the European Sport Model”, sparking lively discussion on the future of sport in Europe.

 

ICSSPE’s met with many of its European partners and peers, exchanging ideas and strengthening connections across the sport and physical activity community.
