The Erasmus+ Green Team project is nearing its conclusion, and partners gathered last week in Barcelona, Spain, for the final in-person meeting of this three-year European initiative promoting sustainability and inclusion in sport.
Despite challenging weather conditions and the threat of torrential rain, the consortium successfully held its final coordination meeting. However, for safety reasons, the final conference — originally planned to coincide with the meeting — was postponed. This served as a timely reminder of how extreme weather events are becoming increasingly frequent and impactful, affecting both sport activities and the broader effort to connect sport with environmental responsibility.
During the meeting, partners reflected on the achievements and lessons learned throughout the project. The Green Team initiative has strengthened European cooperation, produced practical tools to support sustainability in sport, and reinforced a shared belief: sport can — and should — be a driver of ecological transition.
The consortium also reviewed key project outputs, including the online course developed to help sports organisations implement environmentally friendly and inclusive strategies in their events and operations.
The final Green Team conference will now take place online (in English) at the end of the month, offering stakeholders across Europe an opportunity to celebrate the project’s outcomes and discuss future actions in sustainable sport.
In the meantime, participants and interested organisations are invited to explore the project’s deliverables and resources on the Green Team website: Home - Green Team
