ICSSPE representatives visited the German Federal Parliament, where they met with Tina Winklmann, Member of Parliament (MP) representing Alliance 90/The Greens. The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to present ICSSPE’s mission and ongoing projects, and to identify areas of alignment with current political priorities in Germany.

The discussion centred around two key areas of mutual interest:

Empowerment of Women and Girls in Sport
Gender equality remains a core pillar of ICSSPE’s work and is equally central to the Green Party’s agenda. The meeting highlighted the GAP Women project, an Erasmus+ project where ICSSPE is involved as a partner, which is designed to increase the participation of girls and women in sport, encourage involvement in leadership roles, and promote inclusion across all levels of the sporting community. MP Winklmann expressed strong interest in initiatives that foster equal opportunities and empower women through sport.

Sustainability in Major Sporting Events
With environmental sustainability high on the political agenda, ICSSPE also presented the Green Team Erasmus+ project, which focuses on integrating sustainable practices into the planning and delivery of large-scale sporting events. The initiative aligns closely with the Green Party’s climate goals and underlines the potential of sport as a platform for environmental leadership.

The meeting reaffirmed a shared commitment to advancing inclusive, equitable, and sustainable sport practices. ICSSPE looks forward to continued dialogue and collaboration with political stakeholders to support impactful policies and projects at both the national and international levels.
