The Olympic Studies Centre announced the launch of the 2025/2026 edition of the International Olympic Case Study Competition (CSC), an educational initiative organised by the IOC Olympic Studies Centre in collaboration with academic partners.
Open to Undergraduate and Master classes in sport and strategic management or in sport sciences, sociology, media and communications or political sciences, the CSC is divided into two categories:
- CSC for Undergraduate Students, coordinated by the European University of Madrid (Spain); and
- CSC for Master’s Students, coordinated by the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (Germany).
The CSC consists of teams of students acting as agencies advising an Olympic Movement organisation on topics related to current strategic management challenges in international sport. For this new edition, the topic proposed to the students is “Accompanying and Supporting Young Elite Athletes”. Competition will run in parallel from April 2025 to February 2026 for both categories. Respective finalist teams will meet at the end of March 2026 for a shared final and for the first time, opportunity will be offered to present either in person in Lausanne (Switzerland)* or online.
Why participate?
- Easy for university professors to use the CSC in “regular” classes, easy to manage (clear and equal rules, a level playing field and taking place in a classroom setting).
- Opportunity for international experience: teams reaching the semi-finals and finals compete in English against other teams from all around the world. Opportunity for finalist teams to present in the Olympic capital and to live a unique experience.
- Finalists judged by an international panel of subject matter experts representing the IOC/Olympic Movement and academia.
