The Erasmus+ project Promoting Active Cities Throughout Europe – PACTE+ held its second transnational project meeting on the eve of the 28th TAFISA Congress in Düsseldorf (1-5 November 2023). The project, which aims to encourage cities to take a proactive approach to the promotion of physical activity, is being coordinated by Sport and Citizenship

The working areas of the project are Active Schools, Active Governance, Active Workplaces and Active Transport. A tailored programme and expert organisation are responsible to implement one of these areas in one of the pilot cities participating in the project. Model pilot cities are the cities of Limerick (Ireland), Stadt Graz (Austria), Ville d’Angers (France) and Frederikstadt (Norway). Other project partners include the Technical University Munich, the European Cyclists’ Federation, TAFISA, EVALEO and the Federation of European Sporting Goods Industry.

ICSSPE is one of the four expert organisations responsible to implement a strategy on how to promote Active Schools by providing customised support to the city of Frederikstadt. The project team has since been working closely to exchange good practices, ideas and experiences, relevant to each local context, in order to create synergies between the four pilot cities.

The project runs from May 2022 until April 2025.
