The Tokyo Games 2021: Between Hope and Fear

The Sport Department of the Ludwigsburg University of Education (Germany) is organizing an online discussion focusing on the much-debated Tokyo Olympics this year. The discussion will take place on 7th July 2021 at 5:00 pm CET.

 

Athletes all over the world prepared for many years to take part in the Olympic Games; on the other hand, the Japanese population is worried, that such a big, international event could worsen the spread of the Corona-Virus with so many visitors.

 

  • Prof. Dr Annette R. Hofmann will lead the talk, which is attended by the following panellists:
  • Prof. Dr. Bruce Kidd (Faculty of Kinesiology & Physical Education, University of Toronto, Canada, participant at the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo)
  • Prof. Dr. John Horne (formerly School of Sport Sciences of the Waseda University, Japan)
  • Dr. Gerald Fritz (Director of the German Olympic Academy, DOA)
  • Prof. Dr. Katia Rubio (Head of the Institute of Olympic Studies of the Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil)
  • Prof. Dr. Yoshinori Okade (Nippon Sport Science University, Japan)
  • Athlete
