Star Athlete is an internationally accredited non-profit initiative that seeks to discover and nurture aspiring athletes into international sports stars. It is a member of the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE), an associate of UNESCO, and recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). It also collaborates with the World Health Organisation (WHO) in the field of physical activity and health promotion.
In response to recommendations made at the 5th International Conference of Ministers and Senior Officials Responsible for Physical Education and Sport (MINEPS V), Star Athlete commits to organising an international athletic event including diversified competitions with the primary aim to discover and nurture an international sports star.
As an initial offering, the Star Athlete international talent event will open to all participants, male and female, aged 6 to 18 including those with disabilities. Other age groups will be implemented gradually as the programme progresses. At the core, the Star Athlete initiative not only seeks to create sports stars and international athletes but also to promote the importance of fitness, wellbeing and the advantages of leading a healthy and active lifestyle.
Star Athlete's international events can further be divided into three parts: an international athletic event and talent competitions that aim to produce an international sports superstar out of rising talents and aspiring athletes, sporting goods and exclusive branding under the Star Athlete name and trademark, as well as an extensive Star Athlete programme and framework that introduces sport, and the importance of leading an active-healthy lifestyle, to the wider public and all members of society.
This extensive programme includes:
1. The creation of sports competitions for school teams, disability institutes or otherwise; such as universities and other educational facilities; 2. The modification of the curriculums to promote the role of sports, active culture and health; 3. The encouragement and involvement of all ages and genders in sport; 4. The establishment of Star Athlete academies that seek to develop sport colleges in the universities; 5. The promotion of sports in the Army, National Guard, Police and Civil Defense Department and other government bodies; 6. The creation of world-class athletic centers and facilities.
The Star Athlete programme is designed to start at the age of kindergarten and then subsequently continue throughout other phases of study, not only to provide an element of competition but also to aid the introduction of sports to all members of society. The programme is dually designed to improve overall fitness and wellbeing as well as provide an opportunity and base for the creation of international athletes and sports stars.
With the aid of international experts, the quality of education and research in the academic units specialised in physical education and sport will improve. The programme is also designed to provide teachers and physical education trainers with professional developmental training that aids them to complement and improve their understanding and specialisation in order to create and nurture international athletes and sport stars.
