ICSSPE Vice-President Professor Rares Stanescu participated in the 7th Congress of the European Olympic Academies (EOA), held from 6–10 October 2025 in Prague, under the overarching theme “Current Issues and Developments of the Olympic Movement – Commemorating the Olympic Congress in Prague, 1925: Lasting Legacy and Ongoing Challenges”.
Gathering representatives from over 30 National Olympic Academies and numerous partner organisations, the Congress served as an influential platform for dialogue on Olympic education, values-based leadership, and collaboration across sectors.
During a dedicated workshop entitled “EOA as a Beacon of Olympic Education in Europe: Building Bridges with Universities and Schools,” Professor Stanescu delivered a presentation proposing innovative approaches to strengthen cooperation between Olympic Academies, educational institutions, and research communities.
Professor Stanescu’s contribution emphasized:
- The integration of Olympic values into formal and non-formal education systems;
- The creation of joint academic programmes and research initiatives focusing on Olympic studies and ethics in sport;
- The potential for digital and community-based learning models to extend the reach of Olympic education across Europe and beyond.
As one of the key partners represented at the Congress, ICSSPE reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Olympic Movement through interdisciplinary collaboration and evidence-based policy development.
The Congress, hosted by the Czech Olympic Academy in partnership with the European Olympic Academies (EOA) and supported by the European Olympic Committees (EOC), celebrated the legacy of the 1925 Olympic Congress in Prague. Over the course of five days, delegates discussed contemporary challenges such as safeguarding in sport, gender equity, and the evolving landscape of global sporting formats.
