Netanya, Israel / Berlin, Germany, 2011-09-06 How connective is sport?
On 15 September, 2011, the first German-Israeli conference on sport for development and peace 'Sport as a Mediator between Cultures' will begin.
During the three-day event, experts from more than 25 countries will share scientific knowledge and practical experiences to analyse what has already been achieved through sport projects and how these projects need to be designed to promote cultural understanding. Further issues that will be addressed include how development programmes through sport and movement contribute to overcome cultural differences as well as how sport can help for the integration of migrants. Moreover, the influence of sport on politics and society considering regional characteristics will be made a subject of discussion, and which sport respectively physical activity may be used to reach these goals and how project results can be measured and evaluated. On the final day of the event, participants will take a field trip to current development projects.
Mr. Wilfried Lemke, Special Advisor to the United Nations Secretary-General on Sport for Development and Peace; Ms. Limor Livnat, Minister of Culture and Sport, Israel; Dr. Christoph Bergner, Parliamentary State Secretary, Federal Ministry of the Interior, Germany; and Prof. Margaret Talbot, President of the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE), will open the conference.
The event will take place from 15-17 September, 2011, at Wingate Institute in Netanya, Israel. Am 15. September 2011 beginnt die erste deutsch-israelische Sportentwicklungskonferenz 'Sport as a Mediator between Cultures'.
Während der dreitägigen Veranstaltung werden Experten aus über 25 Ländern wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse und praktische Erfahrungen austauschen, um zu analysieren, was durch Sportprojekte bereits erreicht wurde und wie diese Projekte konzipiert sein müssen, um kulturelle Verständigung zu fördern. Angesprochen wird, wie Entwicklungsprogramme durch Sport und Bewegung zur Überwindung kultureller Grenzen beitragen und welche Hilfe der Sport für die Integration von Migranten leisten kann. Desweiteren wird der Einfluss des Sports auf Politik und Gesellschaft unter Berücksichtigung regionaler Besonderheiten thematisiert. Daneben wird erörtert, welcher Sport bzw. körperliche Aktivität für diese Ziele genutzt und wie Projektergebnisse gemessen und beurteilt werden können. Am dritten Veranstaltungstag sind Exkursionen zu Entwicklungsprojekten geplant.
Wilfried Lemke, Sonderberater für Sport des Generalsekretärs der Vereinten Nationen für Sport für Entwicklung und Frieden, Limor Livnat, israelisches Ministerium für Kultur und Sport, Christoph Bergner, Parlamentarische Staatssekretär beim Bundesminister des Innern, und Margaret Talbot, Präsidentin des Weltrats für Sportwissenschaft und Leibes-/Körpererziehung (ICSSPE), werden die Konferenz eröffnen.
