ICSSPE is announcing the publication of an exciting new volume within the Perspective series, namely Ageing, Physical Activity and Health: International Perspectives, edited by Karin Volkwein-Caplan and Jasmin Tahmaseb McConatha.

This book examines the challenges presented by an ageing global population, our varying expectations of healthy ageing, and the importance of exercise and physical activity for the elderly. Drawing on empirical research from around the world, it considers the factors that influence health and well-being in later life and compares practices and policies designed to promote healthy ageing. It presents case studies from 15 countries spanning Europe, North and South America, Africa and Asia, and sheds light on how attitudes to physical activity differ across nations, regions and cultures.

The publication is important reading for all students, researchers and practitioners with an interest in physical activity, public health, exercise science or gerontology.

We also tell you that Sport, Education and Social Policy: The state of the social sciences of sport, dedicated to the late Professor Margaret Talbot, is now available in paperback.

Both of these new editions qualify for the standard ICSSPE discount.

Perspectives is a multidisciplinary series, aimed at the encouragement of cross-disciplinary dialogue, published jointly between ICSSPE and Routledge. Experts from several different sport science disciplines contribute their views to each topic area, and each book aims for contributors from different areas, expertise and interests.
