Tolerance & Diversity through Physical Education & Sport

EPAS Conference in Bled, Slovenia

From 19th - 20th November, 2015, the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS) of the Council of Europe held a Conference promoting tolerance and diversity in sport and physical education. The conference took place in Bled, Slovenia and was organised in co-operation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Slovenia and the Planica National Sports Institute.

 

 

The event was implemented around two themes which were entitled Sport and values: which diversity and tolerance principles could be promoted through physical education and sport? Why are they important and necessary for modern society?, and Sport and education policies: how can values-based physical education and sport activities be implemented?

 

ICSSPE was represented by Executive Director Detlef Dumon who questioned the concept of tolerance and universal values, and, on the basis of the Human Capital Development, introduced two currently ongoing activities which ICSSPE participation, namely the piloting of the UNESCO Quality Physical Education Guidelines for Policy Makers, and the Value Education Partnership in Cooperation with WADA, UNESCO, IOC, IPC and the International Fair Play Committee.
