Soccer and Society in Modern Asia

The Shanghai University of Sport will host a conference about Soccer in Modern Asia from 22^nd to 24^th October, 2016.

The conference will address the following topics:

• History of soccer in Asia
• Mass participation in soccer
• Professionalisation and commercialisation of elite soccer
• Government policies towards soccer development
• Recent cases of gambling and corruption around professional soccer leagues
• The economic and cultural impact of soccer, especially the World Cup, on Asian countries
