Race and Antiracism in Sport for Development

The Sociology for Sport Journal has issued a call for papers for its special issue entitled A Critical Examination of Race and Antiracism in the Sport for Development Field: Reimagining and Recreating Spaces for True Racial Inclusion and Equity.”

 

Recent analysis of racism and antiracism in Sport for Development indicate how the field is built upon race and racism and the underlying hierarchies which enable these practices. This special issue will examine research from a broad range that challenges these hierarchies. Theoretical, empirical and conceptual submissions are welcome on topics such as:

 

  • experiences of Black, Latinx, Asian, Indigenous, and multiracial/multicultural researchers
  • history of race, racism, and intersectionality in Sport for Development
  • the existence, structure, functioning, and impact of Sport for Development in diverse spaces and across global contexts
  • practices for igniting positive change in for Development practice, policy, and research
  • interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary insights into ways in which for Development can be a more equitable and inclusive

 

Manuscripts can be submitted online until 15th February 2022 using the following website.
