Katrin Koenen

Katrin Koenen is ICSSPE’s Director Scientific Affairs and thus responsible for scientific publications, the organisation of scientific events and the development of publication and event concepts. Her core areas in sport science are Adapted Physical Activity, sport for persons with a disability and Inclusion, always with a focus on gender issues. During the organisation and execution of MINEPS V in Berlin, she has played a key role in the organisation of the conference. The grant applications for two running EU projects (Education and Culture DG, Lifelong Learning Programs of the European Union), as well as the scientific work within in the projects are also within her responsibility.

 

Prior to her engagement with ICSSPE she has worked in a public relation and communication agency and served between 1996 and 2004 as a publications- and communications manager for one of the main sponsors of the Paralympic Games. Katrin worked for two years as a teacher at an elementary school in Berlin, Germany and spent seven months in Cape Town, South Africa, in a sport-and-development project of the University of Heidelberg and the University of the Western Cape.
