The second International Convention on Science, Education and Medicine in Sport (ICSEMIS) will take place from 19-24 July, 2012.

Being a common event of the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE), the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the International Federation of Sports Medicine (FIMS), ICSEMIS invites participants to:

  • Increase understanding of each other`s needs;
  • Gain knowledge from other disciplines;
  • Address issues in sport and society that can only be tackled through joint efforts;
  • Meet new colleagues; and
  • Benefit from the joint initiative of United Kingdom universities with an excellent research reputation.

It is a unique event that brings together sport and exercise scientists and world leading experts and policy makers from all disciplines to stimulate and enhance a spirit of enquiry about sport-related sciences. Furthermore, it adds wider value to society through its extensive public engagement and publication programs.

The actual local organising committee is composed by Brunel University, Liverpool John Moores University, both England, the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland, and the University of Wales Institute Cardiff, Wales.

The first ICSEMIS was held in Guangzhou, China in 2008. The forthcoming Convention will occur in Glasgow, Scotland.

Researchers, students and practitioners from every branch of sport and exercise are invited to attend and to share this unique opportunity for multi- and inter-disciplinary scientific exchange.

A call for abstracts will be announced in July 2011, with a closing deadline on 1 November 2011.
