Against the background of an agreement between both ministries, the  General Administration of Sport of China  and the Federal Ministry of the Interior, met for the fifth time for an extensive exchange in sport development.

The topics addressed during the symposium which took place 30 October until 3 November in Shenzhen, China, were the development of strategies, funding systems and  the administration of fencing, sailing and equestrian in both countries. Following events in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2014, this symposium did not only transfer knowledge between the participants, but also strengthened the long-lasting friendship between the two parties.

Six specialists from each country introduced their experiences in sport politics, sport science and sport practice and laid a basis for an exchange and discussions about the three Olympic and Paralympic sports.

The main audience were delegations from China and Germany, lead by the Head of the Sports Department within the Ministry, Gerhard Böhm on the German side, and Head of the Division on Politics and Law, Mr. LIU Yan on the Chinese side. Additionally, representatives from politics, the respective associations and scientists were invited to join the symposium.

As a result of this expert meeting, knowledge transfer and exchange of views has contributed to an intensification of the bilateral sports-based political cooperation and has strengthened the good relations between the two Ministries. Additionally the representatives of both delegations have used the event to further develop their bilateral exchange and to use the new contacts for their future work.

As follow-up and to complete the series, proceedings in the English language will be published and will be available through the ICSSPE website.
