In the Zone is an initiative of the UK based Wellcome Trust and inspired by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

It provides opportunities to discover how the human body works during sport, activity, movement and rest.

The major elements of the In the Zone initiative are:

  • Free science investigation kits for all schools in the UK;
  • A touring exhibition, engaging people of all ages with the science of the human body, in relation to sport and movement.

Teachers can download PowerPoints, editable Teacher and Student Notes, and extra resources to support deliver of In the Zone investigations in their classroom.  Primary students can play games to learn about their bodies whilst students aged 11-19 years can use the Live Data Zone to upload the results of In the Zone experiments, and compare to other students across the UK.
