Athlete involvement is an area that could be improved a great deal in European national sport federations. This is one of the preliminary results of the National Sports Governance Observers.

The National Sports Governance Observer Preliminary Report was published right before the start of this year’s Play the Game Conference. The report contains 274 indicators of good governance of national sport organisations at the national or sub-national level. These indicators, presented in the preliminary report, could be useful for determining the state of the good governance through clearly defined criteria. By using it, federations could determine the state of their governance on four dimensions: transparency, democratic processes, internal accountability and control, as well as societal responsibility.

All indicators and the first preliminary findings can be found in the report.
